A swift, accessible bathroom upgrade in Henderson with added home repairs, completed in just two weeks.
Project Overview
The home project took place in a unit in Henderson, Auckland. The homeowner wanted to upgrade her bathroom to make it easier to use as she got older. The main goal was to remove the bathtub and replace it with a walk-in shower. It made the bathroom safer and more accessible.
The toilet also needed to be changed because it was cracked, and the old tiles were replaced with new vinyl flooring. The vanity was still in good condition, so the client decided to keep it. A new mirror cabinet was added above for extra storage. The entire bathroom was also freshly painted to make it look clean and bright again.
But the project didn’t stop there. The Oncore team also assisted with other minor home repairs, such as plastering and painting the hallway, changing the locks on the back door, and completing a few other handyman tasks around the house.
Design & Planning
When the client got in touch, she had a clear idea of what she wanted. The goal was to make the bathroom more straightforward to use and update it with modern fittings. Since the vanity didn’t need to be replaced, it was kept to help save money and reduce waste.
Mike and Frances Clayton from Oncore NZ handled the planning and ensured all the products were ready before work began. With everything lined up in advance, the team was able to complete the project on time, finishing it just two weeks from start to finish.
A bonus? The client trusted the Oncore team so much that she went on holiday while the work was being done. That demonstrated her confidence in the team’s professionalism.
Project Execution
The build process went smoothly. First, the old bathtub and tiles were removed. In their place, the team installed a frameless 900 x 900 Englefield Evora shower, which made the room feel bigger and more open. A Caroma Luna back-to-wall toilet with Clean Flush (rimless) technology was chosen for its ease of cleaning and modern look.
The flooring was replaced with new vinyl, which is soft underfoot and easier to clean. The walls got a fresh coat of paint, and a mirror cabinet was installed above the vanity to add both style and storage.
Once the bathroom was complete, the team also tackled a few additional tasks around the home, including painting the hallway, installing new door locks, and performing general handyman repairs. These extra touches helped the house feel fresh and safe.
Challenges Overcome
This project didn’t have any significant issues. With careful planning, the Oncore team completed everything on time, avoiding delays. The homeowner had picked reliable products, and there were no surprises during the renovation.
One fun and unusual part of this project? While the client was away on holiday, the Oncore team also took care of her goldfish and tadpoles! It was a small gesture that meant a lot and showed how much the team cared about their client’s home and well-being.
Client Feedback
The client discovered Oncore NZ through a family connection, her son-in-law, who works as one of Oncore’s trusted tradespeople. He recommended the company because he knew they could be trusted to do the job right.
Even though she was away during the work, the client felt completely comfortable leaving her home in the team’s hands. The clear communication and care shown by Frances and Mike gave her complete confidence. When she returned, she was thrilled with the results: a modern, easy-to-use bathroom and a few extra jobs around the house checked off her list.
Final Thoughts
This Henderson unit now has a fresh, modern bathroom that is safer, easier to use, and ready for the future. Replacing the old bath with a walk-in shower made a big difference in accessibility. The new toilet, mirror cabinet, and vinyl flooring made the space look newer and more welcoming.
It’s also a great example of how a minor upgrade can have a significant impact, not just in looks, but also in daily comfort. And with Oncore’s NZ trusted team managing the project from start to finish, the homeowner didn’t have to worry about a thing.
